Prepare activation before arrival

Apple explains that using another carrier while travelling requires an unlocked iPhone. Check eSIM support for your device model and purchase region, and keep the activation instructions and access to an internet connection when needed.

Separate travel data from your main line

Review which line supplies mobile data and which receives calls. Keeping your home line enabled may still incur roaming charges from that carrier. Ask the plan provider about the local network, data allowance, top-ups, calls and support before purchasing.

Useful questions

Does every eSIM plan include a calling number?

No. Some plans are data-only; read the offer details and confirm calls and SMS before purchase.
